Anyone have a source for round barrels in 20ga or larger, perhaps 18ga on up to 12ga with stops along the way at 16ga and 14ga? Ain't asking for much, am I?  &)

I want to build a couple of smoothbore muskets and musketoons for me and the boy. In the past I bought a couple of completely round barrels from Rayl and Colerain, but I would like to avoid a high dollar barrel if possible. It used to be that one of the modern barrel makes turned out a round smoothbore barrel that was pretty economically priced, maybeso E.R. Shaw or one of those outfits?

I have heard of fellows using high grade seamless tubing, but since I have no clue as to strength or availability I think I will tend to avoid that scenario. My intent is to turn wedding rings at the breech end sort of like an English Bess. Just like the simplicity of that look, so if any of y'all have some suggestions I am all ears.....

In 2009 I purchased an un-chambered shotgun barrel from Numrich that came out to $32.80 shipped.  I used it to make a light weight short flint fowler.  The barrels were originally meant to be used to make some double barrel guns but they were a little out of spec so they were put on the market as is.  My 16 ga turned out to be actually a 15 ga.  Otherwise it was good steel and a nice "in the white" barrel.  Should have bought several barrels at the price.  They had both "nominally" 20 and 16 gauge at the time.  Barrel length was 26 inches.  Don't know if they still carry them.

Just checked and here is one of them

Well, great bald minds must think alike, sort of!  [hmm]

I found a like new 870 barrel in 20ga, one of the older ones with no vent rib, 28" long. It has all the original blue in good shape, a perfect bore, and a front bead still present. I will chop it off a bit at the breech end and have a local barrel maker fit a breech plug for me. The dingus on the bottom of the barrel will get cut down into a barrel lug. Gonna notch it if needed so that a ramrod will pass by of course.

High quality steel, nicely finished inside and out, what's not to like? Oh, and the best part part? Gave all of 50 bucks for it shipped!  prty
