1...whichever way has the flint hit the frizzen just above center. 2...depends on spring strength...0-100. 3...never had to. 4...MUST!

On number 4, .....I don't think I  phrased the question properly..
I should have added .......at half cock??
My frizzen is fully closed at full cock...
at half-cock, there is a 1/16 th gap between the frizzen and the pan...    Too much   No biggie

Too much. Any gap and two thing will happen.#1 your powder will spill out #2 your powder is exposed to the weather and to any sparks that could set your gun off unexpectedly. You will need to either use a shorter flint or if the flint your now using is set in the hammer jaws with the bevel side down, then you can try with the bevel up. Sometime that's all thats needed.
