Ok, so the title went a little overboard....however, since this is the only knife I've ever made, and it was from a  spring harrow blade, I figger a little theatrics was in order LOL!! After getting severly put in my place at the shoot last week by my complete ineptitude with both blade and hawk I hope to remedy the problem w/ tons of practice so I made this 1.25lb, 16inch monster to play with (already made me a hawk this week, but you all know what they look like so no point in posting again). This is my take on a coffin handle, toothpick, bowie...I know, there is no such a thing...well there is now! The top rivet might pop, cause I didn't know how to seat the washer properly till the second one, but check out the tooling. I made the scales out of an old stirrup leather a fiend gave me. I like the barbed wire pattern alot.

Thump, that looks mighty fine to me.....I'd be glad to call that one mine.....Like them scales too.  Ya aughta make more of them!!

S.R.B., What would a blade like this sell for? I've seen throwing knives for reenactors from $12.00, up and have no idea how to price these suckers. Thanks

Roaring Bull

I was told that the knife in this photo was $60....kinda high to me (we won it)....so price it according to that.  Asked my boy he said $35 easy, maybe more.

Ranger

I believe that is one of the finest chuckin knives I've ever seen.  thmbsup

Thanks for the compliments and throwin' tips, now here's one for you all...NEVER PRACTICE YOUR KNIFE THROWING ON A HAY STACK....NEVER! I was filling the water tank for my horses last night and knew it would take some time to do, so I took my new pigsticker out to practice. Got pretty good at making it stick after finding the distance, but my accuracy left something to be desired. Now, my hay is stacked in three rows towards the back of the barn and because I have walls to lean the bales on, I don't cross stack between rows. Well, as my luck and Murphy's Law would have it, my last throw managed to miss the bale entirely and find the slot between the touching bales. First I thought the knife got sucked up into one of the bales, so I cut it open, nope. Then I figured it musta gone back into the second row, nope again. By now the water tank was full so I shut off the faucet, rolled up the hose, put the hay back in the stack, turned off the lights and started walking back to the house,1/2 way there, I said "no way Jose", I'm gonna find that knife tonight!! Went back out to the barn, and for 3/4 an hour,(yes I'm obsessive), rearranged bales of hay lookin' for that dad-blasted knife. It finally turned up, one slot over from where I thought it was, and in the last row of hay touching the wall!! Put all the hay back in some semblance of order, turned out the light and went back to the house. Will I throw my knife into a hay stack again? Probably, but I'll pull out the bales I'm throwin' at and stick some plywood behind 'em for sure!!!
