Sheep Shear Knife

Ran into a fellow that made knives out of old sheep shears In conversation he told me that if the shears were marked don't cut them in to that they had some value.Does anyone know about this ??
   I would like to make a couple knives but don't want to ruin something good

Go to your local thrift shops/antique shops and look for old cleavers..they are great starting places for making good knifes with old carbon steal blades. See couple of new ones in this topic.
