As most of you know I started my first scratch build (pistol) under the tutelage of Ken Netting. One of the great pleasures I've had during my visits was watching Ken build this beautiful Jager rifle. The customer had this incredible Ivory patch box lid carved years ago and sent it to Ken to build a Jager around it. Though Ken didn't carve the lid he built, carved and made everything but the lock and barrel. My photos do not do the rifle Justus. I just had to share this. thmbsup

Well, you gonna pull them pistols or whistle Dixie?

gunmaker

That is truly incredible!!  especially when you know those guns were made by a whole guild of craftsmen.  Almost every piece of an original  was made by trades & the gun was assembled by the stocker. Now here's a man who's mastered the entire process !  Well done.

Hanshi

That's a beautiful jaeger.  I do like them, a lot.
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

Black Jack

If I owned it, I'd be afraid to handle it.  I'd keep it behind glass forever.

I wish I had 1/4 the talent it takes to do this level of work, but Ken Netting is the builder of this beautiful Jager. I have had the great privilege of being invited into his shop and his guidance with my first scratch build. This gentleman is a true Master as far as I'm concerned.
I am just glad we have people like Ken, Mongrel,Gunmaker, Olflint, PaPa and all the others on our forum that are willing to help and tutor those of use wanting to try our hand at building.
