The one rifle we both regret gitting rid of was his first build, a Kentucky half stock flint with some light carving on the stock.  It had a 13/16" .36 cal barrel that was, If I remember, 32" in lenth.  It had a old CVA lock with single trigger.  It was a beatiful very light rifle that was easy to carry.  He also made his own patch boxes and inlays.  He even did some ingraving.

I quit building because I got tired of the demands of having to have this rifle finished tomorrow, that one yesterday.

That's where I ended up too Ned. I didn't quit entirely, just built guns I wanted to and sold them at my local b/p shop. Seems the work really improved when the pressure is off! bunkr Felt better building too!

How did the Great Plains rifle test go? I also had a Great Plains in .50 cal and I thought that it was a bit heavy and front end heavy as well. Ended up trading for a Traditions Kentucky (also .50 cal) and I think it is a bit lighter and I stay on target a bit better / longer.

Thunderhawk, I'll be trying it out this next Sunday so I'll know then. This one is a .54 which helps a lot to reduce muzzle heaviness.
