I know what its like to be just startin out... When I first started, I was lucky if I could avtually even get it to hit a target the size of a wall. A 3' target would have been a god send, but trees that size being cut down are rare up here.

Went to a local mill that processes trees into signs, mantles and firewood, picked up a 3.5' X 3" trunk, but found that even as dry as the pecan wood (pecan is a hickory) is, even with cracks, it's too hard. 

I'll go back for something softer like cottonwood, hackberry or china berry.
