The late special general season, spikes and doe, ended sunday with out a bang. Coulda killed a couple really nice fat doe very easily. But with all the deer, elk, and beef in the freezer, and plenty to many hides on hand I let them walk. Kinda odd now that for years I would kill off my limit and wish for more tags, now, its just to much fun watchin them. The herd did ok thru the later summer and early fall now that its been raining, we did loose a lot of fawns due to the drought. When I was getting ready to go out the other day my daughter asked me what I was going to do. I said "Go hunting, whats it look like. She says, "Shouldnt you load that thing"? I replied nope, just goin hunting just because. Sure will miss the season now, but looking much forard to next fall.

I know the feeling the last 3-4 years I haveas much or more hunting
with 35 mm camera as a rifle.

ya know I let a lotta deer walk by this year too.  Seems like the older I get the less I like dressing em out, so 1 is enough....cept for squirrels, Im still at war with them

there are 4 stages of hunter evolution as referenced in Hunter Education...

1. Meat maker - if it moves shoot it.
2. Trophy Hunter - Looking for that trophy shot
3. Outdoors-man - might or might not take the shot it i the thrill of the hunt that count's
4. Retired - sold all my guns and sit in the rocker on the front porch talkin about hunts gone by...

I'll modify #4..Give guns to grandkids and sit at waterhole with cooler and watch them shoot.

Sit on the porch, after I have kicked the lid of the box they put me in,
and think about past hunts
