Chuck wagon beans

Quick to make and really filling.


Chuck Wagon Beans


1 pound bacon
1 pound ground beef or venison
1 medium onion
2 large cans Bush's Baked Beans
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
3 to 4 tablespoons mustard
1 1/2 to 2 cups brown sugar
In a pan, cook bacon to a crisp and crumble it. In a separate 6-quart saucepan, brown meat and onion.. Add beans.. spices, mustard, brown sugar and crumbled bacon. Cover and simmer 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Serve with rolls and butter

Next weekend the men and boys in our family are going on our yearly man trip to Blue Lakes. I am going to make your Chuck wagon beans one night. I can hardly wait.

Some people don't like that much brown sugar.  Start with less -- you can always add more in if you want.  Tougher to take it out. ;D
