Wanted it to look a little more old timey, and happened to add a little more room in the tin.

Just used a auto body hammer and beat it out.

Added almost a 1/4" of space, allowing for a bigger piece of flint.

I may do this to a whole tin just to see how it turns out.

Great idea! I have a few Altoid tins I've burned the paint off of, but didn't like the lettering. By the way, I have a board that
looks exactly like that on my bench.

Rev

I have a supply of tins that are exactly like altoids tins but no lettering or paint. I charge $2 ea. PM me if you need some...

Plainsman

Thanks for the offer, but I'm really digging this look. And a lady at work gives me 3-4 free tins a week!

Hanshi

Great idea.  I have a similar size tin (tea).  How did you burn the paint off?
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

I just used a propane torch, but you could set it in the coals of a fire or BBQ. Do it outside, pretty smelly.

Plainsman

Yeah all I did was use it to char some punk wood.
