Ticking

Not to add formulas everyone has their own favorite method -  but ticking does come in different weights -

A good point and worth mentioning.  You want to buy 100% cotton ticking with a tight weave, and some stores will call the lighter stuff "pillow" ticking while the heavier, 100% cotton is called "mattress" ticking.  I have seen the lighter pillow ticking with less than 100% cotton content and you want to avoid that, synthetic fibers melting in the bore will cause all sorts of problems, the least of which is horrible accuracy.

With ticking, as mentioned before...make sure you wash and dry hot.  Makes really nice tight weave...had friend at Nationals earlier this month using un-washed tiching...he was having problems--showed him my prewashed tight weave ticking..he said something like "DAH" and had no trouble the next day.....go figure...
