Daryl, Thats a beautiful curly maple stock. can't wait to see it finished. I should take a picture of my work table, you would think it takes me forever to find a tool to work with. By the way, you got a good teacher to help you. Thanks for posting the pics.

That's a block of maple from www.gunstockblanks.com in Las Vegas----He sells those for around $ 20.00 !!! A good place to get wood.     Tom

Ok, so here are pics of the thimbles and the trigger being installed. Next up will be the side plate -cutout, engrave and install.

Some engraving on the stock, staining, inlaid acorn thumb piece, removed stain cuz of file marks still present, muzzlecap... Never enough!

Had a nice ol crack at the end of the stock. I think if I had not Acra-glased the barrel channel it would have busted off while reducing the muzzle end of the stock to accomodate the muzzlecap.

I modified the post so we could see the picture... R.B.

I might redue/tweek the side plate. It doesnt quite fit since sanding down the stock.

Oh yeah, The pistol measures in at 16" from grip to muzzle and weighs just 2.33 pounds.

Red Badger

Very nice job on that pistol!

Snakes are in for it now !!!  Be interesting to see what kind of shot pattern it will throw at 5-10 yards.    Great color.    ...Tom

beowulf

good looking pistol ! really like the stock !

Darwyl

Thanks fellas!
Next up will be a hybrid between a early jaeger and a Christian Springs/Edward Marshall in .54/28gauge OTR 36"barrel with an early jaeger flintlock. Haven't decided on the wood; maple or walnut?

gunmaker

please remember to plug the barrel maker, I get a discount that way......American gun ?   as much curl on a block of maple as you can afford.  On the other hand I love the look of walnut...Is this to be some sort a "Fantasy" transitional smoothbore ?  Sounds great, Whose Jaeger lock ?  will be a good project, everyone needs one a those, or one a something else.....
