On the TMA is a post by a member named butterchurn.  This matter needs our attention and our prayers.

There is a new business professor at or university who's 4 year-old daughter is gravely ill and may die. He and his wife are totally devistated. I'll post his email to all of us and let him explain the situation. For those here on the FORUM who pray, please pray for this family. They are such nice people. My heart is breaking for them. The professor's name is Bill.

"I'm writing this in complete bewilderment. Natalie and I are at the Children's Hospital (downtown) with Adah. What started as a simple cold has now been diagnosed as a chronic heart condition that is potential fatal. Natalie and I are a complete wreck and mess right now. Please forgive my disjointed message.

Adah has been diagnosed with a restrictive cardio myopathy. This is something that she was born with, but just now discovered. Essentially, her little heart doesn't work normally like other children her age. The impression we've been given is that there is no idea of how long she will live with this. As a parent, that is probably the most devastating news to hear. To look at your child and wonder if it will be the last time you kiss her, touch her, or tell her that you love is absolutely mind blowing. Every cough now makes us jump out of our seats.

They are working on her immediate symptoms (ie. inflamed heart, fluid in lungs, inflamed liver, etc). After which, they will run the test to determine the severity of her disease. At that point, we will be told what course of action we will take. Her type of disease is so rare that there are only 2 or 3 doctors in the US that know anything about it. The best case scenario is that she has a film over her heart that they can remove; worse case is that they will have to do a heart transplant.

We are completely devistated...beyond words. I've not stopped crying for the last five hours. We need help. We are here all along and know no one but you all. We're scared. We're sick. We're devistated. Please help.

We're at Children's Hospital (around 25th and Chicago) in room 7163."

Childhood illnesses are the hardest to deal with. Our children are supposed to out live us. My prayers go out for this young lady and her family as well. Let Butterchurn know we are praying for them.

Doug

These good folks are in my prayers.

Update! From Butterchurn on TMA.

Adah is still in Minneapolis Children's Hospital. They won't transfer until they get the pneumonia under control. They discovered why the pneumonia is not responding to the antibiotics. She has a fungal pneumonia. They are starting her on an antifungal tonight.

Her heart is functioning a little better, but she still needs the heart transplant.

I'll keep you updated.
