I'm not clear on what your problem is. MORE details would help a lot.

The only experience I have with the white mountain carbine was helping a lady with a hunting load. She tried 80 gr and a 320 gr maxi (.50 cal.) and was happy with the results.

For a plinking or target load try 40-50 gr and a .490 ball with a .010 or .015 patch. If she is a small lady she could shoot less powder, as little as 25gr for plinking and target but use at least 60 for hunting.

I've shot several deer with a maxi-ball and 75 gr. of 3FG. It's very accurate in my gun out to 100 yards.

for this gun forget the roundballs & buy some maxi-balls, Lyman Great Plains bullets, or some of them new-fangled condom-bullets.

my opinion & yer welcome to it.

I worked for TC arms back in the 90''s, worked in the repair dept and worked on muzzleloaders. We shot almost exclusively maxi-balls at work. Many of us that hunted used the CVA Powerbelt bullets, they replicate the mini-ball.
Try 50cal, 245 grain, over 80-90 gr  black powder. This load shot great in all my T/C muzzleloaders.
