Thanks fellas, had planed to file down the front sight a little more but when I took it out, the bolt spring broke,  new one ordered and should be here this week.  Has a very good feel without all that extra weight out front.

Here's a pic of my '61 Navy (Pietta) convertable. Has a nice wood grip and a brass backstrap also.

I may do that with a 1858 Rem sometime...but can't choose the one to cut. It's a teadious task, but what bothers me is cuttin' on my shooters. noway

The 1861 is a nice gun, still got one Pietta with an eight inch barrel.  This little .36 cal is a real shooter!  Have considered shortening the barrel but just can't bring myself to cut the barrel on a revolver that shoots as well as this one.  If I couldn't shoot it well I would not have any trouble, wouldn't have much to loose.  By the way, had a Leach & Rigdon .36 once.  It was a beauty also, love that dragoon style barrel......Bullfrog
