posted this back in march but am just now getting around to posting the results. i got a stock and barrel in a trade with our buddy Pathfinder, bought the lock ,trigger ect. from TOW and sent everything to a fella in Wyoming named Steve Zihn. if you have ever seen any of Steves stuff you know he does excellent work, i was very pleased with the results. i had him send it to me in the white because i wanted to do the final finishing on it. i have had a little experience with browning and to be quite honest,i suck at it, so i decided to antique the barrel and other hardware using navel jelly.does'nt look to bad really, especialy after it has aged a few months. for the stock i stained it with a mix of 3/4 brown and 1/4 black Fiebings leather die followed by about ten coats of Formbe's low gloss finish, each coat buffed back with 0000 steel wool, then i finished it all off by rubbing in some bees wax.

i hav'nt shot any roundball through her but with shot she holds a pattern suprisingly well for a cylinder bore barrel.

Looks good David.  I recently tried the Naval Jelly trick, worked well enough, but was a mess to clean up.  About two weeks ago tried the "rust removal" trick with a caped PVC pipe and regular vinegar.  Let it set about 3-4 days.  Worked fairly well on the rust and gave the same results as an ageing technique as well.  Was a whole lot easier to clean up as well.  Just removed the cap that was not glued on, dumped the vinegar bath , then wiped the barrel down then oiled it up and put it back together.  Looked good.
